The distributor cap helps create the spark that keeps your engine running and faulty or low-quality distributor caps reduce your car’s efficiency. The distributor cap is a vital part of your car’s ignition system. It works with the rotor arm to transfer electricity from the ignition coil to the spark plugs via high-tension cables. This generates a spark, which then ignites the fuel mixture and provides power for your car. As distributor caps are subject to a constant electrical charge, their metal terminals will eventually corrode.
